Iran war escalates as US, IRGC exchange fire over Strait of Hormuz
U.S. and Iranian forces exchanged heavy missile and drone attacks as the IRGC claimed Iran had closed the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil and LNG shipments, until the “end of U.S. interference” in the region. U.S. Central Command said commercial vessels continued to transit the waterway and that American forces struck more than 300 Iranian military targets over three nights.
