Writer Wilder Shaw taste-tested fries from nine fast-food chains and came away with a surprise winner. Burger King landed last for being completely flavorless, Bojangles came in eighth for the opposite reason — way too salty — and Chick-fil-A's waffle fries underwhelmed despite their devoted fanbase. Wendy's, Sonic, Arby's, and McDonald's filled out the middle of the pack. Five Guys earned second place for fresh-cut, restaurant-quality fries in generous portions. But KFC took the crown, with its chicken salt-seasoned "Secret Recipe" fries delivering on both flavor and crunch.
